The Robbery, The Protest and The Response

  • The Robbery

The early hours of Thursday 18th of August was nothing to write home about as 'students of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta took the axe by it's blade' as they could no longer withstand the negligence of quarters that were supposed to look into their welfarism.
Campuscliqs correspondence was able to gather information from an anonymous source on the robbery/attack on Adejoke hostel located around the schools gate premises.
It was said that the night crawlers numbered about 7 or more in numbers all armed with guns, axe and matchet carried out their plans for about 20 minutes or more carting away with the residents valuables such as phones, laptops, jewelries amongst the rest from about 8-9 rooms out of the 50+ rooms in this hostel leaving 2 students injured.

  • The Protest

This robbery got all hands on deck as the residents of Adejoke hostel and the mass of students of Funaab (School hostel, Gate, Oluwokesin, Isolu, Camp, Osiele & Obantoko) all took to the streets to protest against the inhuman behavior of this night crawlers and nonchalant attitude of those in authority. All academic and business activities in and around the school came to a halt as lecturers/students were not able to gain entrance into the school, while this was going on the Funaab Student's Union & NANS representatives addressed students through the P.A.S assuring them of proper handling of the matter's arising.
The men of the police force were seen with some officials of the university addressing students,  moments later and our correspondent overheard that a police post/branch would be situated in the university environs.

Student's were said to have left the Speaker (the police) in large numbers as they heard that a thief has been caught in OluwoKesin. The thief was said to be an indigene (not confirmed) and was said to have stoled some phones, already beaten up student's from the protest at gate continued beating him as they were not satisfied, with that they took him to gate with continuous beating. In the hullabaloo the police were able to get him from the hands of the aggrieved protesters.

  • The Response

While the peaceful protest was going on,  a report got to us that a student by the name Abisoye Taiwo 100lvl FWM Colerm has been shot by the Police at camp. Outraged students at this point could no longer control their anger as they went on a face off with the Police force,  cars were burnt and buildings were destroyed.  The police shot lots of teargas in order to chase the protesters up to the extent of chasing students and forcefully making arrest..
In the midst of all these the school authority declared a 7 days emergency break via sm.  to return normalcy to the university community..
Attached is the message been sent "The VC on behalf of the Senate has declared a 7-day. . .  mid semester break. Form Thursday 18 August, 2016"
